Rapid Contractor Compliance Response
A general contractor managing a project on a site over five acres faced an urgent compliance challenge just a few months into construction. Despite maintaining silt fences, sweeping streets, and protecting inlets, the contractor was approached by the local municipality and asked to provide copies of their Notice of Intent (NOI), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and recent NPDES inspection records.
It quickly became clear that the project lacked both an active NOI and SWPPP, and no inspections were being conducted. Miscommunication between the engineer, site contractor, and project team had left the site exposed to serious regulatory consequences. The municipality ordered work to stop until compliance was achieved—a situation that could have caused significant delays and penalties.
KCI responded immediately. Within 48 hours, we developed a complete NOI and SWPPP package and initiated weekly and rainfall inspections to bring the site into full compliance. By working closely with the contractor and all stakeholders, KCI not only prevented daily fines from the EPA, DEP, and local authorities but also ensured the project stayed on schedule. The contractor gained confidence knowing that all NPDES requirements were being actively managed by experts.
