KCI’s stormwater inspector’s primary role is to arrive on a construction site, obtain the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and then begin to ensure that all erosion control measures have been implemented properly. A KCI stormwater inspector is the first person to determine if the performance standards and intent of the erosion and sediment control rules are being met. At a high level, here are some detail actions for a KCI field stormwater inspector’s role.

It is extremely important for a stormwater inspector to understand the site layout and review the site plans before proceeding to observe. This is good practice for current routine sites we may be accustomed too and especially new site visits. It is good practice to review the plans prior to each visit as sometimes plans change. This effort is quite beneficial in helping discover alterations that may occur over time. Most sites have a particular flow and process to erosion and sediment controls. Field inspector’s primary objective is to fully understand the best method or process to approach the inspection to ensure consistency and precision.
