Go Green In 2017

One of the most common traditions of celebrating a New Year is to create a Resolution.  For those of you looking to become more green and earth friendly KCI wants to share some of our favorite Go Green Tips!

Cheers to a Happy New Year!

  1. Wash your car in the grass and avoid soapy water running into storm drains
  2. Do not blow leaves or grass clippings into the storm drains
  3. Don’t water your lawn while it is raining
  4. Take a bag on walks to pick up litter
  5. Use tupperware instead of Zip-lock bags or Styrofoam to-go containers
  6. Reuse pickle jars and lunch meat containers
  7. Use a glass growler for beer instead of cans or bottles
  8. Reuse to-go containers from restaurants.
  9. Reuse boxes from online orders.
  10. Reuse small containers for cosmetics when flying.
  11. Turn off the lights when you leave a room
  12. Set the air conditioner on a timer so that you don’t cool your house or apartment while you are away
  13. Install solar panels
  14. Drink water from a reusable bottle
  15. Unplug electronic devices that are not in use or when they are fully charged
  16. Use a sleep-timer on your TV if you sleep with it on
  17. Plan your car trips efficiently so that you drive less
  18. RECYCLE!
  19. Replace CFL and incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs
  20. Open blinds to use natural light during the day
  21. Repair big items instead of replacing them immediately
  22. Visit a beach or state park to remind you of the intrinsic value of nature
  23. Use vinegar and water as a shower cleaner, glass cleaner
  24. Use baking soda to freshen carpets
  25. Use lemons to clean and freshen garbage disposal
  26. Use vinegar to clean drains
  27. Use toothpaste to clean chrome fixtures
  28. Reuse shower curtain hooks to hang accessories
  29. Take showers together 🙂

  31. Trade items of food with neighbors.
  32. Shop thrift stores
  33. Shop local
  34. Buy local
  35. Telecommute
  36. Wash full loads of laundry
  37. Use online document sharing
  38. Plant a tree
  39. Buy what you use. Use what you buy.
  40. Carpool
  41. Recycle electronics
  42. Use rechargeable batteries
  43. Reuse coffee grounds for plant fertilize
  44. Reuse coffee grounds as a natural exfoliant
  45. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth
  46. Water plants and grass with leftover water in bottles, when cooking, etc.
  47. Use grocery bags as trash bags.
  48. Hang dry clothes.
  49. Plant a garden of fruits, vegetables, and herbs
  50. Create a new dish out of leftovers.
  51. Build a compost bin
  52. Use old t-shirts, pillow cases, etc. for cleaning around the house
  53. Use the sun to dry fruits, meat, etc.
  54. When drying a load of laundry, put in a towel – it will absorb the extra moisture and make drying time faster.
