Resolution or Goal

At the beginning of a new year, many of us make resolutions to stop something or do something new and we all try our best to stick to it. People think of a resolution as making a promise or commitment such as become more organized, or quit an unhealthy habit, or start a new hobby. Did you know that most new year resolutions fail? We have all experienced that changing a habit or starting something new is very difficult. Establishing smaller goals or achieving little triumphs that leads you to achieving the bigger picture has been found quite successful.

From a construction project perspective, maybe a new year resolution might be to consider implementing a new workflow process that will improve safety. Let’s consider reversing this resolution and address it as a new year goal to retrieve on-going feedback and input from workers aimed at improving safety. This effort will bring forth unique perspectives improving a more meaningful way to determine the best decision to safety workflow process changes. Additionally, everyone becomes involved in the new process that ultimately leads to increase participation, awareness, and ownership to improve safety.

We are sure many of you can always think of areas in your businesses that are inefficient or need to change. In retrospect, it is important and just good business to always evaluate and determine modifications that would enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

As we enter 2022, we seem to continue witnessing a moderate outlook to a more stable and healthy construction industry in Florida.  According to the Cumming Consulting Firm, “reports that the Orlando area specifically, construction volume in the coming several years is expected to see a pattern of steady growth”.  Several key indicators support this claim. Population growth continues to rise and analysts project that Florida will climb more than 12% to 14% in population growth by 2025.  We all know population growth stimulates infrastructure build-out and the need for housing and schools for kids. Additionally, Florida is seen as a mecca by developers for new projects and development.

In today’s new normal, caused by the continuous interference by the pandemic, the new year’s hope and future growth opportunity begs the tendency to potentially re-invent, restructure, and possibly reform our businesses. Many companies will begin this new year thinking about how to capture new growth, increase productivity, compete effectively, and reduce risk.

As we begin to accelerate into this new year, it is also easy to fall into the trap of status quo. Now is a great time to plan, prepare, and execute on goals that will allow you to achieve the best you can be! Give us a call and find out how KCI is gearing up and preparing to serve you better than ever this year!
